CHAMBERS OF
GEORGE B. DANIELS

We should not minimize the importance of this historic moment. Decades from now, most will take it for granted. But this is one of the most significant acts of inclusion in this city since Jackie Robinson joined the Brooklyn Dodgers. It is an act of a city that equally values all of its residents and visitors.

I commend the plaintiffs and their lawyers for their persistence, and the mayor and the city's representatives for the good .judgement that today's agreement represents. It makes us a better city.

It is simply the right thing to do.

No. 442

STATEMENT BY MAYOR DE BLASIO ON JUDICIAL SIGN-OFF OF CITY’S ACCESSIBLE TAXI PLAN
***See attached for U.S. District Court Judge Daniels’ comment on the settlement***

“This is a good day for a more accessible New York City. We are thankful to Judge Daniels for echoing the basic premise: this is simply the right thing to do. For New Yorkers living with disabilities, a more accessible taxi fleet will make it easier to be full participants in the life of this city.”
