Thanks 2 participants in 4th Annual Community Disability Day Saturday, July 13, 2013
On behalf of Insight for New Housing (IFNH) thanks you for being a
participant of the 4th Annual Community Disability Day on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Crotona Park. With your support the event hosted more than 400 people to provide a day of entertainment filled with empowerment with information and resources for economic self-efficiency, affordable housing, and cultivating public awareness for people with disabilities, their families, and caregivers.
Despite the start of the day with pouring rain, the weather cleared up to allow us to celebrate and inspire all with featured entertainment from Flame the Band, Ted "Wizard" Mills, Carol Johnson, Mary C, Emme Kemp, Spinbad, Litin Lance along with Master of Ceremonies Gerry Davis, Bronx Net, and Debbi B of the WBLS Sunday Classics. Access VR Deputy Commissioner Debora Brown Johnson shared words of encouragement and attendees enjoyed great food from a multicultural mix and treats from Delicioso Coco Hellado.
Collectively, no matter what role you played in the success of Community Disability Day it allowed us to reach out to the nearly 14% percent of the Bronx residents and beyond with a disability. Since our inception, our goal is to reach out to the disability community to inform, educate, and level the playing field.
We are already in high-gear with plans for the 5th Annual Community Disability Day for Saturday, July 12, 2014 to celebrate disability, advocate, and generate public awareness. We invite you to be an active participant by becoming a sponsor, join our organizing committee, volunteer, or make a donation to help us continue this amazing initiative.
